Effective Date: July 4, 2026
Last Updated: July 4, 2026
Legal Entity: IAmDriver, a company registered in [Jurisdiction]
1. Introduction
IAmDriver ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") provides an on-demand transportation and fleet-management platform consisting of: (a) the "iamdriver" mobile application, used by passengers/customers to book rides; (b) the "iamdriverpro" mobile application, used by drivers and fleet operators to accept and complete trips; and (c) the website located at [iamdriver.com] (collectively, the "Services" or the "Platform").
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect from users of the Services (referred to individually as "Customer," "Driver," "Fleet Operator," or collectively "you"), how we use and share that data, the choices available to you, and how we protect your information. This Policy applies regardless of whether you access the Services through the iamdriver app, the iamdriverpro app, our website, or any related APIs, SMS, or customer support channels.
By creating an account, requesting a ride, providing driving services, or otherwise using the Services, you agree to the collection, use, and disclosure of information as described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
2. Who This Policy Covers
2.1 Customers (iamdriver app)
Individuals who download the iamdriver app to search for, book, pay for, and take rides.
2.2 Drivers and Fleet Operators (iamdriverpro app)
Individual drivers, and fleet/company administrators who manage multiple vehicles and drivers, who use the iamdriverpro app to receive trip requests, navigate, manage earnings, and operate their driver or fleet account.
2.3 Website Visitors
Individuals who visit our website, including prospective customers, drivers, fleet partners, or job applicants, whether or not they create an account.
3. Information We Collect
3.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account information: full name, email address, phone number, password, profile photo, and date of birth used to verify age eligibility.
- Customer payment information: billing address and card/wallet details, processed via our third-party payment processor (see Section 8).
- Driver and Fleet Operator onboarding information: government-issued ID, driver's license number and expiry, vehicle registration, proof of insurance, vehicle make/model/year/license plate, roadworthiness or inspection certificates, and tax/business registration details for fleet accounts.
- Background and identity verification information: criminal background check results, driving history reports, and identity-document verification results, collected directly or through a third-party verification provider, where permitted by applicable law.
- Banking and payout details: bank account number, IBAN, or mobile-wallet identifiers used to pay Driver and Fleet Operator earnings.
- Communications: content of messages sent through in-app chat or masked calling between Customers and Drivers, and any correspondence with our support team.
- Ratings, reviews, and feedback submitted about a trip, Driver, or Customer.
3.2 Location Information (Real-Time GPS Tracking)
Location data is central to the Platform's operation. Details on how and when we collect it are set out in Section 4 below. In summary, we collect:
- Precise real-time GPS location from Customers while the iamdriver app is open, to determine pickup points and show nearby available Drivers.
- Precise real-time GPS location from Drivers, including while the iamdriverpro app is running in the background, from the moment a Driver goes online until they go offline, so we can dispatch trips, calculate ETAs, track trip progress, and generate accurate route history.
- Trip route, distance, speed, and duration, reconstructed from location pings for fare calculation, safety monitoring, and dispute resolution.
3.3 Trip and Transaction Information
- Pickup and drop-off locations, trip date/time, requested vehicle type, fare amount, distance and duration, and payment method used.
- Trip status events (requested, accepted, arrived, started, completed, cancelled) and cancellation reasons.
- Promotional codes, discounts, and referral information applied to a trip.
3.4 Device and Usage Information
- Device identifiers, IP address, device model, operating system and version, mobile network information, and app version.
- Log data such as crash reports, app diagnostics, feature usage, and timestamps of interactions with the app or website.
- Push-notification tokens used to deliver trip updates, promotions, and account alerts.
- Camera and photo-library access, used only when you choose to update a profile photo, upload a driver document, or use in-app identity/selfie verification.
3.5 Information from Cookies and Similar Technologies (Website)
Our website uses cookies, pixels, and similar technologies to recognize repeat visitors, remember preferences, measure site performance, and support advertising and analytics. See Section 11 for details and your choices.
3.6 Information from Third Parties
- Identity and background-check providers, who confirm the validity of a Driver's identity documents and driving/criminal record where legally permitted.
- Payment processors, who share transaction confirmation and fraud-risk signals.
- Mapping and navigation providers, who supply route, geocoding, and traffic data.
- Social login providers (e.g., Google or Apple Sign-In), if you choose to register or log in using a third-party account.
4. Real-Time Location Tracking — How It Works
Because the Services facilitate live transportation, location tracking is a core, non-optional feature of both apps. This section explains it in detail.
4.1 Customers
- We collect your device's precise location when the iamdriver app is open in the foreground, to show nearby Drivers, set your pickup pin, and track your trip in progress.
- You may also choose to share your location with friends or family during an active trip using an in-app 'share trip status' feature, if enabled.
- You can disable location permissions in your device settings, but doing so will prevent core booking functionality (such as automatic pickup detection) and may require manual address entry.
4.2 Drivers and Fleet Vehicles
- The iamdriverpro app collects precise location in the foreground and background while a Driver is online and available to accept trips, and continuously during an active trip, so that the Platform can dispatch nearby requests, calculate accurate ETAs and fares, and generate a trip route for safety and support purposes.
- Background location collection stops when a Driver sets their status to offline within the app.
- Fleet Operators may be able to view the real-time location of vehicles registered under their fleet account for dispatch and operational-oversight purposes, in accordance with their agreement with us and applicable local law.
4.3 Retention of Location and Trip History
Historical trip routes and location pings are retained as described in Section 9 (Data Retention) to support fare disputes, safety investigations, insurance claims, and legal compliance.
5. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage Customer, Driver, and Fleet Operator accounts, and to verify identity and eligibility to use the Services.
- To match Customers with nearby available Drivers, calculate fares, routes, and estimated arrival times, and facilitate trip completion.
- To process payments, issue receipts and invoices, and pay out Driver and Fleet Operator earnings.
- To enable communication between Customers and Drivers regarding an active trip (via masked calling/messaging where available).
- To monitor and improve safety, including trip-route verification, anomaly detection (e.g., unexpected route deviation or prolonged stops), and investigation of incidents or complaints.
- To conduct and periodically refresh Driver background and document checks as required by law or platform policy.
- To provide customer support and respond to inquiries, disputes, and refund requests.
- To send trip status updates, receipts, safety alerts, and — where you have not opted out — promotional messages.
- To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, unauthorized access, and violations of our Terms of Service.
- To analyze usage trends, conduct research, and improve the reliability, performance, and features of the Platform.
- To comply with legal, tax, licensing, and regulatory obligations applicable to ride-hailing and transportation-network operators.
6. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK Users)
Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract — to create your account, match trips, process payments, and deliver the Services you request.
- Legitimate interests — to maintain safety, prevent fraud, improve the Platform, and enforce our Terms, balanced against your rights and interests.
- Legal obligation — to conduct Driver background checks, retain tax records, and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
- Consent — for optional features such as marketing communications, non-essential cookies, and precise background location sharing beyond what is strictly necessary, where consent is the applicable basis under local law.
7. How We Share Your Information
- Between Customers and Drivers: When you book or accept a trip, we share limited information necessary to complete it — the Customer's first name, pickup/drop-off location, and masked phone number are shared with the assigned Driver; the Driver's first name, photo, vehicle details, license plate, rating, and masked phone number are shared with the Customer.
- Fleet Operators: Trip, location, and performance data for vehicles/Drivers registered under a fleet account is shared with the relevant Fleet Operator administrator for dispatch, payroll, and compliance purposes.
- Service providers: We share data with vendors who perform services on our behalf, including payment processing, cloud hosting, mapping/navigation, identity and background-check verification, push-notification delivery, SMS/OTP delivery, analytics, and customer-support tooling. These providers are contractually restricted to using data only to provide services to us.
- Legal and safety purposes: We may disclose information to law enforcement, regulators, courts, or insurers where required by law, to respond to legal process, to investigate potential violations of our Terms, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, the public, or the Company.
- Corporate transactions: Information may be transferred in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to standard confidentiality protections.
- With your consent: We share information with other third parties when you direct us to do so, such as sharing a live trip status with a chosen contact.
We do not sell Customer or Driver personal data to third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.
8. Third-Party Services Integrated into the Platform
The Platform relies on the following categories of third-party providers, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Payment processors, to securely handle card and digital-wallet transactions; we do not store full card numbers on our own servers.
- Cloud infrastructure and data-storage providers, who host our databases, media, and backend systems.
- Mapping, geocoding, and routing providers, who supply the maps and turn-by-turn navigation displayed in-app.
- Push notification and SMS/OTP gateways, used for account verification and trip alerts.
- Analytics and crash-reporting tools, used to understand app performance and usage patterns.
- Background-check and identity-verification vendors, used solely for Driver eligibility screening.
9. Data Retention
We retain personal data for as long as necessary to provide the Services and for the additional periods described below, after which it is deleted or anonymized:
- Account information is retained for as long as your account remains active, and for a limited period afterward to handle disputes, comply with legal obligations, and prevent fraud.
- Trip records, fare data, and location/route history are retained for ten (10) years from the date of the trip to support tax, accounting, insurance, and legal-defense requirements typical of transportation-network businesses.
- Driver background-check results and licensing documents are retained for the period required by applicable transportation and labor regulations in the relevant operating jurisdiction.
- Support communications and safety-incident records may be retained longer where necessary for ongoing investigations or legal claims.
10. Data Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal data, including encryption of data in transit, access controls limiting employee access to personal data on a need-to-know basis, and monitoring for unauthorized access. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by applicable law.
11. Cookies and Similar Technologies (Website)
Our website uses the following categories of cookies:
- Strictly necessary cookies, required for core website functionality such as login sessions and security.
- Performance and analytics cookies, which help us understand how visitors use the site.
- Functional cookies, which remember preferences such as language or region.
- Advertising cookies, which may be used to measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns, where enabled.
You can control cookies through your browser settings or, where applicable, through a cookie-consent banner presented on your first visit to the website.
12. Your Privacy Rights and Choices
12.1 General Rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to: (a) access the personal data we hold about you; (b) request correction of inaccurate data; (c) request deletion of your data; (d) object to or restrict certain processing; (e) request a portable copy of your data; and (f) withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
12.2 EEA/UK Users (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the rights described in Section 12.1 under the GDPR/UK GDPR, and you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
12.3 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell personal information), and to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. You may designate an authorized agent to submit requests on your behalf.
12.4 Other Jurisdictions
Where local data protection laws (such as Nigeria's NDPA, Pakistan's applicable data protection framework, or Canada's PIPEDA) grant additional or different rights, we will honor those rights as required.
12.5 How to Exercise Your Rights
You may exercise these rights by: (a) updating your information directly in the app account settings; (b) contacting us at [privacy@iamdriver.com]; or (c) submitting a request through [privacy request form/URL]. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
12.6 Location and Notification Permissions
You can manage location, camera, contacts, and notification permissions at any time through your device's operating-system settings. Disabling certain permissions may limit or disable core features of the Services, such as automatic dispatch or trip tracking.
13. Children's Privacy
The Services are not directed to individuals under the age of 18. Customers and Drivers must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in their jurisdiction, if higher) to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we learn that we have collected data from a child, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
14. International Data Transfers
We operate across multiple countries and may transfer, store, and process your information in countries other than the one in which you reside, including in territories that may have different data protection laws. Where required, we implement appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, to protect information transferred internationally.
15. Push Notifications, SMS, and Marketing Communications
We send transactional messages (trip confirmations, OTPs, receipts, safety alerts) that are necessary for the Services and cannot be opted out of while your account remains active. You may opt out of promotional push notifications, SMS, and emails at any time through in-app notification settings or by using the unsubscribe link in marketing emails.
16. Additional Terms for Drivers and Fleet Operators
- Background checks: By applying to become a Driver, you authorize us (or our verification vendor) to conduct identity, driving-record, and criminal-background checks to the extent permitted by law in your operating jurisdiction, and to periodically re-verify this information.
- Fleet dashboards: Fleet Operators are granted access to a dashboard showing trip history, earnings, live vehicle location, and compliance status for vehicles and Drivers registered under their account. Fleet Operators are responsible for ensuring their own Drivers are informed that this data is visible to the Fleet Operator.
- Earnings and tax data: We may share Driver/Fleet Operator earnings summaries with tax authorities where required by local law.
- Insurance and safety incidents: Trip and location data may be shared with insurers in the event of an accident, claim, or safety investigation.
17. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. We will post the updated Policy on our website and within the iamdriver and iamdriverpro apps, and will update the "Last Updated" date above. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent for material changes.
